Bieber Mill

The Bieber Mill property consists of about 28 acres located on Bieber Creek Road in Oley Township. The mill is powered by Bieber Creek. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. At least three of the buildings are included in the registry and are therefore protected from destruction.

The Mill was built in 1809 by a member of one of the Knabb families and was acquired by the marriage (abt 1875) of Maggie Knabb to John Bieber (b. 1855). Their fourth son, Effinger Bieber inherited the property. He married Mary Moyer. They lived together there until his death in 1996 and she subsequently until her death in early 1998. They were both in their late 90s.

Up until the time of her death the mill was producing commercially, and I presume continuously since its construction, for nearly 190 years.

This magnificant landscape entitled BIEBER MILL was painted by Timothy Barr, who has done a number of paintings with subjects from Berks County. It was copyright in 1996.
