Xavios, Sophie

Sophie Xavios, 88, lifelong resident of Reading, died Thursday July 28 at Reading Hospital after an illness. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Xavios, who died in 1985, and the daughter of the late Mike and Mary (Kretikou) Stevens. Sophie was a member of St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Reading. Surviving are a daughter, Mary, wife of James Skoufalos of Birdsboro, PA; a son, Peter Xavios of Wyomissing; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and a sister, Helen, wife of Harry Weiler of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn E. Vlassis, and daughter-in-law, Leah Xavios. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service on Monday, August 1 at 1 PM at St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading. A viewing will be held at the church from 12 until 1 PM. Interment will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church. Charles F.
