Schuyler Brossman Collection

Schuyler C. Brossman's love was Genealogy. His tombstone notebooks are in 7 volumes, but 8 books, Volume 1 being split into two book. The index to these volumes was done by the staff of the Genealogy Department, Fort Wayne Indiana Public Library.

The Lenig Papers are three notebooks containing correspondence between Schuyler and George Lenig concerning early settlers.

Schuyler also produced a number of notebooks on the Veterans of the local area of the Tulpehocken.

Much of his work was shipped to the Mormons and microfilmed and therefore is available at Family History Libraries around the country.

The reason for the apparent hodge podge lodge of his seven volumes appears to be that he would gather together information and send it to Salt Lake City to be microfilmed. Then he had to make up a new "collection" of material to be microfilmed.

Our Keystone Families was a genealogical column done weekly by Schuyler that appeared in two newspapers, over 2000 columns. Most of these are indexed.

We have at the Tulpehocken Settlement Historical Society in the Stephen Brecht Genealogical Library, 116 N. Front St. Womelsdorf, copies of the above. There are possibly a few films missing. The final copies of Our Keystone Families which actually were done by his daughter.
