The William Coleman Family

The family of William Coleman (1757-1819) and Catherine Lebo (1757-1825):


William drove a stagecoach from Philadelphia to Reading, settled in Reading to raise his family of eleven children. He acquired a stagecoach line and eventually the Eagle Hotel.


He is listed serving as a Lieutenant in the 6th Battalion of the Berks County Militia in Phillip Miller's regiment, guarding prisoners during the Revolution.


After William's death, Catherine managed the hotel.

  5. George Coleman (1788-1865) wife/Catherine Goodman
  6. Nicholas Coleman (1790-1858) wife/Rebecca Nagle
  7. Mary "Polly" Coleman (1792-1875) husband/Thomas Kepple
  8. Elizabeth Coleman (1794-1866) unmarried?
  9. Henry Coleman (1796-1844)
  10. Rebecca Coleman (1798-1836) died in Detroit, MI
  11. Sarah "Sallie" Coleman (1803-1860) husband/Major Peter Muhlenberg
