Because these records contain very old information, check different surname spellings. For example, if a surname starts with "K," look at surnames that start with "C" and "G"; if a surname starts with "P," look at surnames that start with "B." Many of the first names are abbreviated.

In these early records, names were not listed in strict alphabetical order. In some cases, the names are not listed in alphabetical order. It may be better to browse these files rather than to search these files.

Some changes from the original are: These lists are formatted in a table. I reversed the surnames and first names in the "Single Freemen" lists to make it easier to find a surname. And, on some of the lists, the occupations are inside parentheses.
