John Lehman

John Lehman was born August 14, 1790, in Berks county, Pa. His father, Martin Lehman, and mother, Christina Speck, were immigrants from Germany, and were sold out to service by the captain of the vessel until their passage was paid, as the custom then was. In the spring of 1812 John married Miss C. Smith, by whom he had five children. He removed to Wayne township in the spring of 1823, settling four miles north of Wooster, where, on July 13, of same year, his wife died. In the spring of 1824 he married Miss N. Bair, who died August 23, 1867, aged sixty-five years. By his first wife there are two children living, and by the second nine. Mr. Lehman now lives with two of his daughters, and is a hale old man, whose strong mental faculties are not impaired by age, and who can look back on a long life well spent.
